The submission process for Special Sessions for the APMS 2016 conference on “PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT INITIATIVES FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD” has been completed. The scientific committee around Prof. Irenilza Nääs, the conference chairwoman, accepted a record number of 13 proposals for special sessions. These cover a diverse range of topics:

- Sustainable production management – Which approaches work in practice?
- Enabling product service systems development and management through smart technologies
- Operations management in Engineer-to-Order manufacturing
- Lean manufacturing
- Cyber-physical (IIoT) technology deployments in Smart Manufacturing Systems, an SM & CPPS SIG workshop session
- Smart Manufacturing System Characterization, an SM & CPPS SIG workshop session
- Service-oriented Architecture for Smart Manufacturing System, an SM & CPPS SIG workshop session
- Implications of multi-stage manufacturing process chains on Smart Manufacturing, an SM & CPPS SIG workshop session
- Bottom-up Knowledge Base Development for Smart Manufacturing, an SM & CPPS SIG workshop session
- Socially sustainable manufacturing towards Industry 4.0
Submissions of full papers to APMS 2016 are still open until 30 March 2016. Please consider submitting papers to the special sessions above.
